Bookish habits

A questionnaire, I found on someone’s blog. Some dirty book habits revealed.

1. To mark your page you: use a bookmark, bend the page corner, leave the book open face down? I always use bookmarks. Dislike spoiling books.

2. Do you lend your books? Not really. I give them to very few close friends.

3. You find an interesting passage: you write in your book or NO WRITING IN BOOKS! I have another book for noting interesting passages and poems.

4. Dust jackets - leave it on or take it off. As much as I do not like them, I leave them on.

5. Hard cover, paperback, skip it and get the audio book? Paperbacks are easy on the pocket and lighter to carry. Audio books are convenient while travelling or when I am too tired to sit up and read.

6. Do you shelve your books by subject, author, or size and color of the book spines? No order.

7. Buy it or borrow it from the library? Mostly buy. Its thrilling to buy books. Library books are generally dirty and I tend to wash my hands after reading them. No, I don’t have OCD.

8. Do you put your name on your books - scribble your name in the cover, fancy bookplate, or stamp? I write my name before lending them. Don’t boo, they are mine.

9. Most of the books you own are rare and out of print books or recent publications? A mix of new and old but no rare books.

10. Page edges - deckled or straight? Straight.

11. How many books do you read at one time? Just one. Finish ‘em before jumping to another.

12. Be honest, ever tear a page from a book? No, never.
